On August 30, 2024, Sookie and Pita, Carlos' sisters, wrote the below message to all the people who have supported Carlos:

Who would’ve thought that a year ago today our lives would forever change! This past year has been a roller coaster with trials and tribulations for our brother and yet there has not been a day where he has complained or pitied himself about his situation! The strongest man in our lives has always been our father, Carlos Sr. and so it is true that the apple 🍎 doesn’t fall far from the tree! We thank God and are blessed to have our brother here with us 🙏🙏 We believe that out of every bad situation something great will come to be and we know that our brother will do great things!

During this journey we have met so many amazing people who have supported us in so many ways! First helping our family with the flights so that we could be with our brother, the hotels, transportation, the houses, the moves, the countless calls, texts, letters, gifts, fundraisers, visitors, chauffeurs, goodies 😋 and so much more! Friendships were made and families were built! The road to recovery ❤️‍🩹 has just begun and we are so grateful for the continued support. We couldn’t have done it without you all!!
